Monitor Your Credit
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act increases your rights and provides ways to reduce identity theft.
- You have the right to request one free credit report each year and we feel it is important for you to do so. If negative information is included on your credit report, it may affect whether you get a loan, the terms and rates of loans granted to you, insurance rates and potential employment. Reviewing your credit report also helps guard against identity theft.
To order, visit www.annualcreditreport.com, call 877–322–8228 or complete the mail-in Annual Credit Report Request Form found on the above web site. You can learn more, including how to dispute credit report errors, at the Federal Trade Commission. - Beware of credit repair promises that sound too good to be true.
- If your credit report needs improvement, there are ways to do it.
- It’s important for you to know that we may provide information to credit bureaus or consumer reporting agencies about an insolvency, delinquency, late payment or default on your account to include in your credit report or consumer report.
- Identity theft victims can place fraud alerts on their credit reports and work with creditors and credit bureaus to block negative information in credit files relative to the identity theft.
- The FACT Act also discourages identity theft by prohibiting merchants who accept credit and debit cards from printing more than the last five digits of the card number on your electronically printed receipt and must not include the expiration date of the card on the receipt.
