Defer a payment when you need to most.
We could all use a break sometimes. That’s why we allow members to skip a payment on qualifying credit cards and loans to use the extra savings for holidays, vacations, or to cover an unexpected expense.Apply for Skip-a-Pay
How Skip-a-Pay Works
For loans, your next payment due date will be pushed forward one month, and the term of your loan will be extended by at least one month.
For SCU Visa Credit Cards, the amount due will show as $0 for the current due date.
Your loan or credit card must not be more than 14 days past due, in addition to all loans or credit cards held at SCU not being more than 59 days past due.

Fees & Charges
A $20 processing fee is associated with all convenience skips processed through Skip-A-Pay.
Convenience fees may be paid from an existing SCU deposit account or an outside Visa, Mastercard, or Discover.
Finance Charges & Interest
Finance charges and interest will continue to accrue on any unpaid balance at the contracted rate. Disability and Life insurance premiums will continue as well.
Members can skip up to:
- 2 payments per year (defined as a 12-month rolling period).
- 5 skips per lifetime.
For home equity loans:
- Members are allowed one skip per year and 2 skips per lifetime of the loan.
No Credit Report Penalty
Skipped payments will not reflect as missed or late on your credit report and shouldn’t have a negative impact on your credit score. However, payment history is only one of many factors considered when calculating a credit score.
Insurance & GAP Coverage
The deferral won’t extend the duration of GAP, vehicle maintenance, life, or disability insurance(s) that may be included in your contract.

Skip-a-Pay Help Questions
How will I know my next due date and amount?
The next due date is displayed on the confirmation screen prior to submitting the request. Once processed, you will receive an email confirming the details of the skip, and your new due date and minimum payment will reflect on the Accounts Overview screen in online banking.
SCU Visa credit cards are not automatically processed. Once successfully skipped, SCU Visa Credit Cards will show a $0 payment due for the current cycle.
You will receive a Subsequent Action Form. Skips requested at a branch, or for SCU Visa Credit Cards, may take up to 2 business days to be applied.
Can I still make payments during my Skip-a-Pay period?
Yes, you are always welcome to make payments. Any payments accepted during your Skip-A-Pay period will not negate the skipped payment and will apply towards the next payment due.
Can I still use Skip-a-Pay if my payment is auto-drafted from another bank?
Yes, auto-drafted payments set up by us will be adjusted by us. If you have set up your automatic payments independently, for example through SCU Online or your other bank’s bill pay, you must update the payment accordingly.
Will I see Skip-a-Pay requests for credit cards immediately?
Please allow two business days for SCU Visa Credit Card minimum due amounts to reflect.
When submitted, we send your skip request to our credit card department for manual processing. A confirmation email will be sent informing you the request was processed.
Once a skip is successfully processed, you’ll see a $0 payment for the current due date. A new minimum payment will be calculated on the cycle date of the next month.
Can I schedule my Skip-a-Pay period for a future time?
No, Skip-A-Pay requests are applied to the next payment due. To skip a payment in the future, please wait to apply until the intended month.
